Trash and Recycle Pickup
Trash and recyclable materials are picked up on Mondays throughout the Village of Newtown by Rumpke. Rumpke will pickup a maximum of four (4) trash containers once per week per each residence.
Containers and other trash to be picked up for the regularly scheduled collection by Rumpke, shall not be set out on the curb before 5:00pm of the evening preceding the scheduled collection day. Containers must be removed from the curb and/or public right-of-way on the day of collection.
Holiday Pick-Up
When Christmas Day and New Years Day fall upon a Monday, Rumpke will pick up your trash on Tuesday, the day after the Monday holiday.
Recycling Receptacles and Acceptable Recyclable Materials
The Village of Newtown provides our residents with two different types of recycling receptacles. According to your need, we offer a red recycling bin and a 65-gallon recycling wheeled tote. Our Maintenance department will be happy to deliver the red recycling receptacle to your home. Please call (513.271.2009) and leave your name, address and phone number. The 65-gallon recycling wheeled tote can be ordered through Rumpke at 1.877.786.7537 (Customer Service Ext. 7673) The wheeled tote must be used for recyclables only.

Cardboard Drop Off
3711 Debolt Street, Newtown. This dumpster accepts corrugated cardboard – please flatten the cardboard to conserve space in the dumpster. This service is provided to the public.
Acceptable Recyclable Materials
plastic bottles & jugs (lids may now be left on plastic bottles and jugs.), glass bottles & jars, aluminum/steel cans, bottle caps, empty aerosol cans (remove tips), newspapers, magazines, phone books, brown paper grocery bags, junk mail, office paper, cardboard (please flatten to conserve space), paperboard (i.e., cereal boxes), paper cartons are now recyclable such as the type that orange juice and soup come in, envelopes and clean pizza boxes (please remove food).

Disposal of Larger Items
There is no additional cost for the pickup of large items (such as furniture, mattresses, hot water heaters and other whiteware items) generated by any residential unit. For these larger items, Rumpke requests that residents call their Customer Service to give a 24 hour notice and arrange for pick-up.
Mattress Pick-Up
All mattresses must be wrapped in plastic. Plastic wrapping may be purchased at Home Depot or Lowes.

Furniture Disposal
Furniture disposal can be troublesome and may require an additional staff member. Rumpke requires that you phone ahead if you plan on disposing large pieces of furniture. Rumpke will only remove one large piece per week. Phone 1.877.786.7537 (Customer Service Ext. 7673) for additional information.
White Goods
A new Federal Law affects the disposal of “White Goods” containing CFC refigerants. Items such as refrigerators, ice makers, window air conditioners and freezers contain CFCs. The following steps are necessary to dispose of “White Good” items.
- Contact a local appliance service center that can provide CFC removal.
- The technician should tape evidence of CFC removal from the appliance.
- Contact Rumpke at (513) 742-2900 and request a CFC removal application.
- This application must accompany the certificate of CFC removal from certified service center.
- Place “White Good” item on curb with proper documentation of CFC removal for regular trash pickup.
