About Service Department
The Service Department wears many hats in the Village and strives to provide quality services to the Village of Newtown. The department operates with 4 full-time employees (this is including the supervisor).
The Service Department is responsible for the maintenance needs of all the dedicated village roads and their corresponding right-of-ways.
In addition to the roads, the department maintains village-owned buildings and open spaces including five parks and a cemetery. This includes mowing, trimming, installing footers, opening/closing graves, and maintenance of the sporting fields/courts.
Service Department Hours:
Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
Cemetery Office Hours are by appointment only.

Service Department FAQs
Does the department remove of dead Animals
If you spot a dead animal you can call 513-271-2009 or use the “Report a Problem”. The Department will only remove dead animals that are in the roadway or public Right of way and will not remove any dead animals off of private property.
Who Fixes Pot Holes:
We appreciate all notifications of potholes (or any other road problem) and ask the traveling public to let us know of any road problems they observe. Please contact the Service Department at 513-271-2009 or use “Report a Problem”.
Pothole repairs will be conducted only when weather conditions do not limit the ability to perform the work or when such work would not endanger the safety of Village employees and equipment. Factors that may delay repairs are cold temperatures, rain, snow, and ice conditions.

What day is Trash Day / Rumpke missed my garbage
Trash/Recycling are both picked up on Monday mornings for the residents. If Rumpke has missed the collection of your trash or recycling, Residents to need to call 1-800-828-8171 Extension #2
Are there any Cemetery plots available?
No. The Village currently has no plots/graves available that are for sale within Flag Spring Cemetery.
