“Eight Mile Road at SR 32 will be closed beginning April 19 for construction of the Green-T intersection improvement on SR 32. Expect increased traffic on Little Dry Run Road and Church Street as drivers navigate around the closure. Eight Mile Road at SR 32 is expected to be closed until late fall.”
Eight Mile Road will be closed at SR 32 for 4-6 months starting on April 19th. The detour will start at SR 32 and Clough Pike. SR 32 will remain open for the duration of the construction. The traffic patterns will change on SR 32 up and down the hill, however there will be no closures for SR 32. Concerns for impact to the Village of Newtown will be vehicles attempting to work their way around the road closure via Little Dry Road, Church Street, and Ivy Hills CC area.

Green-T Intersection Improvement Construction
To Begin Next Week On S.R. 32
Hamilton County (Monday, April 10, 2023) – Following preliminary work last year, operations for the first phase of construction at the state Route 32 Green-T intersection project will get under way next week.
Contractors for the Ohio Department of Transportation are constructing a signalized Green-T intersection at S.R. 32 and Eight Mile Road near Newtown, and during the upcoming phase of work, crews will be reprofiling Eight Mile Road and widening westbound S.R. 32 at the intersection.
On Wednesday, April 19, Eight Mile will be closed at its junction with S.R. 32 for up to 200 days, and traffic will be detoured via Clough Pike, Mt. Carmel Tobasco Road and S.R. 32.
As part of the Green-T project, construction includes widening a portion of S.R. 32; realigning, widening and improving the profile grade on Eight Mile; installing signals; replacing drainage; and repairing a slide repair along eastbound S.R. 32. Once completed, the Green-T intersection will provide for a free-flow of traffic for westbound S.R. 32 motorists with a continuous green light, while turning movements to and from Eight Mile Road and eastbound S.R. 32 traffic will be maintained with a signal.
Preliminary construction began in the fall of 2022, with utility work continuing through early spring of this year. Traffic on S.R. 32 has been shifted in each direction between Beechwood Road and the entrance to Makers Church, east of Winridge Road, and the westbound left-turn lane to Eight Mile Road will be closed next week as well.
The John R. Jurgensen Company was awarded a contract for approximately $4.57 million to undertake the project, and all work is scheduled to be complete in the summer of 2024.
