Duke Energy will be performing gas leak and corrosion inspections in neighborhoods/homes inspecting their gas metering equipment and piping. These inspections are required by the US Department of Transportation (DOT) and are necessary for safe natural gas pipeline operations.  Inspections will be performed by Southern Cross, Inc., on behalf of Duke Energy. As of 9/29/2023, we are aware that letters have been mailed to residents – Duke Energy shows that there are about 77 inspections in Newtown that need to take place.

Southern Cross (888) 694-7284 – call to schedule an appointment.  Make sure the area that contains the gas meter is clear for the technician.  The technician will be identified wearing a badge from Duke Energy and Southern Cross, Inc.
